CNA Spanish Translator

Second Touch Position Description

Classification:  Non-Exempt

Reports To:  Second Touch Team Lead

Location:  All Clinics

Obtains vital signs and from patients for evaluation by provider; serves as the clinic Spanish translator; protects patient and company privacy and confidentiality guidelines; performs other duties as directed. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides, ensures and assists with rapid treatment to HealthFirst patients; prepares patients for evaluation by provider; obtains vital signs; understands and recognizes important alerts within patient’s charts.
  • If able to speak and translate Spanish and English, translates from Spanish to English and English to Spanish; obtains and documents patient’s current medical problem and history; if necessary, assists in making patient comfortable by turning or changing positions.
  • Answers patient’s questions and requests; follows clinic policies and procedures.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reads professional publications, maintains personal network.
  • Complies with all local, state, and federal regulations; maintains patient privacy and protects operations by keeping patient care information confidential; complies with HIPAA guidelines; establishes a high level of professional standards and applies those standards to the treatment and care of patients.
  • Keeps the work area clean through out the day; sets up/cleans area for the next morning shift.
  • Performs other duties as directed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

  • None

EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or its Equivalency and/or an Associate’s Degree in Allied Health Science preferred.
  • CNA certification is preferred.

LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION:

  • CNA preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 1 year of proven experience in the healthcare field performing Second Touch responsibilities. 

SKILLS

Abilities include but not limited to:  if capable, translates from Spanish to English and English to Spanish; caring attitude toward patients and co-workers; critical thinking, interpersonal, speaking and active listening skills; detail oriented, good stamina and coordination; ability to work in a fast pace environment; multitask; knowledge of general office procedures and equipment; and ability to work at least three 12-hour shifts per week.
