Second Touch Position Description

Classification: Non-Exempt

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provides, ensures and assists with rapid treatment to HealthFirst patients; prepares patients for evaluation by provider; obtains vital signs; understands and recognizes important alerts within patient’s charts.
  • If able to speak and translate Spanish and English, translates from Spanish to English and English to Spanish; obtains and documents patient’s current medical problem and history; if necessary, assists in making patient comfortable by turning or changing positions.
  • Answers patient’s questions and requests; follows clinic policies and procedures.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reads professional publications, maintains personal network.
  • Keeps the work area clean throughout the day; The work area includes, but it is not limited to, counter tops, floor/carpet, restrooms, chairs, vitals machines, and kitchen area; sets up and cleans area for the next morning shift.
  • Speaks and writes English clearly and concisely.
  • Complies with all local, state, and federal regulations; maintains patient privacy and protects operations by keeping patient care information confidential; complies with HIPAA guidelines; establishes a high level of professional standards and applies those standards to the treatment and care of patients.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This job operates in a professional healthcare setting.  This role requires regular walking to various locations around the medical office building. This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses.

POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

  • This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Sunday through Saturday, 7:45 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., or until the last patient leaves after 8:00 p.m.; must be able to work three 12-hour shifts per week. Rotating shifts as well as holiday and work during inclement weather will be required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

  • None

EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma or its Equivalency and/or an Associate’s Degree in Allied Health Science preferred.
  • CNA certification is preferred.

LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION

  • CNA preferred.

EXPERIENCE

  • At least 1 year of proven experience in the healthcare field performing Second Touch responsibilities. 

SKILLS

  • Abilities include but not limited to: if capable, translates from Spanish to English and English to Spanish; caring attitude toward patients and co-workers; critical thinking, interpersonal, speaking and active listening skills; detail oriented, good stamina and coordination; ability to work in a fast pace environment; multitask; ability to identify and efficiently describe issues/problems and offer specific solutions, or solve, as well as describe all attempted solutions that did not fix the issue to the appropriate person(s), such as Team Leader, Fix Team, etc.; knowledge of general office procedures and equipment; and ability to work at least three 12-hour shifts per week.
