Medic Team Position Description

Classification:  Non-Exempt

Reports To:  Medic Team Lead

Location:  All Clinics (North Charleston, Summerville, West Ashley and Mount Pleasant)

Summary: Administers rapid treatment to patients; prepares patients for evaluation by provider; supports patient care delivery; administers medications; protects patient and company privacy and confidentiality guidelines; performs other duties as directed. 


  • Administers rapid treatment to HealthFirst patients; prepares patients for evaluation by provider; provides support to provider during evaluation.
  • Performs laboratory tests, venipuncture, administer medication, vaccines injections and IV administration, breathing treatments, ear lavages, wound irrigation and sterile procedures, orthopedic skills: application of splints and casts, wound care and dressings, minor surgical procedures setup; dispose contaminated supplies and sterilize medical instruments.
  • Performs EKG, Spirometry and holter monitor application; conducts drug Screens (federal and non-federal) and BATs.
  • Maintains a clean, orderly and functional work environment; The work area includes, but it is not limited to counter tops, floor/carpet, restrooms, chairs and kitchen area; replenish medical supplies and materials on a daily basis.
  • Speaks and writes English clearly and concisely.
  • Must be able to work 12-hour shifts and rotate between all HealthFirst locations.
  • Works in a fast-paced TEAM environment. Complies with all local, state, and federal regulations; maintains patient privacy and protects operations by keeping patient care information confidential; complies with HIPAA guidelines; establishes a high level of professional standards and applies those standards to the treatment and care of patients

  • This job operates in a professional healthcare setting.  This role requires regular walking to various locations around the medical office building. This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses.


  • This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Sunday through Saturday, 7:45 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., or until the last patient leaves after 8:00 p.m.; must be able to work three 12-hour shifts per week. Rotating shifts as well as holiday and work during inclement weather will be required.

  • Associates Degree in Allied Health Science Preferred. Basic EMT and/or Paramedic training. Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse.




  • Licensure or Certification listed below and/or at least 1 year of experience in the healthcare field.


  • Positive attitude toward patients and co-workers; ability to operate all clinic technology effectively and efficiently; practice critical thinking, interpersonal, communication and active listening skills; able to multitask and be detail oriented; ability to work in a fast-paced environment; willingness to work at least three 12-hour shifts per week including weekends, but not limited to weekends; rotate between all locations; basic knowledge of the HF Essential Functions; ability to identify and efficiently describe issues/problems and offer specific solutions, or solve, as well as describe all attempted solutions that did not fix the issue to the appropriate person(s), such as Team Leader, Fix Team, etc.
