Patient Registration Coordinator

Reports To:  First Touch Team Lead

Location:  All Clinics (Summerville, North Charleston, West Ashley and Mount Pleasant)

Position summary: administers rapid reception of patients; greets patients with a smiling face; ensures patients are comfortable and safe; answers and responds to patient’s phone calls; collects payments and post charges; maintains and balances cash drawer at the end of each shift; protects patient and company privacy and confidentiality guidelines; performs other duties as directed. 


  • Greet patients in a warm, friendly manner, with a smiling face during check-ins and check-outs; maintains and balances cash drawer at the end of each shift; ensures funds collected during the day balance; reports all outages to the Team Lead.
  • Verifies and updates patients’ insurance information; ensure completeness and accuracy of patients’ insurance forms prior to submitting.
  • On-stage and off-stage behavior must be professional at all times; promptly responds to patient’s phone calls and inquiries; collects payments of charges; post charges and assists patients with any problems that they may encounter.
  • Keeps the work area clean throughout the day. The work area includes, but it is not limited to counter tops, floor/carpet, restrooms, lobby chairs and kitchen area; sets up/cleans area for the next morning shift.
  • Speaks and writes English clearly and concisely.
  • Complies with all local, state, and federal regulations; maintains patient privacy and protest operations by keeping patient care information confidential; complies with HIPAA guidelines; establishes a high level of professional standards and applies those standards to the treatment and care of patients.

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filling cabinets and scanners.


  • This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Sunday through Saturday, 7:45 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., or until the last patient leaves after 8:00 p.m.; must be able to work three 12-hour shifts per week. Rotating shifts as well as holiday and work during inclement weather will be required.

  •  High School Diploma or its equivalency and/or an Associate’s Degree in Allied Health Science preferred.

  • At least 1 year of experience in the healthcare field performing Front Desk/Receptionist responsibilities.  The candidate must have strong knowledge of health insurances.


  • Abilities include but not limited to:  caring attitude toward patients and co-workers; critical thinking, interpersonal, speaking and active listening skills; detail oriented, good stamina and coordination; ability to work in a fast pace environment; multitask; knowledge of general office procedures and equipment; ability to identify and efficiently describe issues/problems and offer specific solutions, or solve, as well as describe all attempted solutions that did not fix the issue to the appropriate person(s), such as Team Leader, Fix Team, etc.; ability to work at least three 12-hour shifts per week.
